OSCE Monitors Azerbaijani-Armenian Troop Contact Line

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Monitoring is expected to be carried out at the Azerbaijani and Armenian troop contact line near the Azerbaijani region of Tovuz in the village of Alibeyli in accordance with a mandate from the OSCE Chairman-in-office's personal representative on 6 November, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported.

The Azerbaijani side will be monitored by assistants to the OSCE Chairman-in-office's personal representative - Pieter Ki and Zhaslan Nurtazin.

The Armenian side of the line, which is recognized by the international community as Azerbaijani territory, will be monitored by other assistants of the OSCE Chairman-in-office's personal representative - Miroslav Vimetal and Antal Sherdiks.

Armenia occupies 20% of Azerbaijani territory. Since a cease-fire was signed in 1994 OSCE have been holding intensive monitoring exercises at the troop contact line.
