Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Agayeva / De-mining has been carried out in an area of 714,720 sq m in Azerbaijan this year. During this period, 3,062 mines and unexploded ammunition (PHS), have been discovered and rendered harmless, the Azerbaijani National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) said.
During this period, an area of 58,697,367 sq m has been cleaned up in Azerbaijan.
Approximately 28,837 mines and PHS have been discovered. Since September 2001 some 56 people have been killed and 127 injured as a result of 91 mine explosions. De-mining operations were mainly carried out in the Terter, Agdam, Fizuli, Goranboy, Kohavand and Agstafa districts of Аzerbaijan.
