On March 15, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received president of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Joao Soares, Foreign Ministry reported.
The main subject of discussion was the solution to Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Elmar Mammadyarov said Armenia had occupied Azerbaijan's territories and violated the norms and principles of the international law. The Minister said first of all it is important to eliminate the consequences of the occupation.
Mentioning the stage-by-stage solution to the conflict, Mammadyarov noted the importance of withdrawing Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, establishing normal living conditions in the territories, opening of the communications, returning of the IDPs to their lands and determining the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to Elmar Mammadyarov, sustainable peace and security can be ensured in the region only with these conditions of settlement.
Joao Soares said he agreed to the approach of Azerbaijan on the solution to the conflict and added that it was high time to solve the conflict.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
