Azerbaijan, Baku, April 13 / Trend K.Zarbaliyeva /

Monitoring held on the contact line between Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces proceeded without incident, Deputy Spokesman of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Teymur Abdullayev told Trend.

The monitoring was held with the participation of the Minsk Group co-chairs, on the Agdam-Barda Highway of Azerbaijan on April 13 under a mandate of the OSCE chairman special envoy, Abdullayev said.

During regular monitoring of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan scheduled for April13, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen and Special Representative of the OSCE chairman will continue to investigate the case of the murder of a nine-year-old Azerbaijani boy by an Armenian sniper, which occurred in the village of Orta Garavend in the Agdam region, the ministry reported earlier.

The monitoring was held on the Azerbaijani side by OSCE Chairman-in-Office Personal Representative field assistants, Antal Herdich William Pryor and Christo Christov
The monitoring was held on the opposite side, which the international community recognizes as Azerbaijani territory, by OSCE Chairman-in-Office Personal Representative Andrzej Kasprzyk, his field assistants Imre Platinus and Marius Puodziunas.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding region
