In the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, international organizations allow for double standards, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Community in Nagorno Karabakh Bayram Safarov said at a meeting with OSCE ambassadors in Baku.
He informed the participants that for 20 years the international organizations involved in conflict resolution allow double standards and do not take a strong stand on this issue, and stressed that the conflict can be resolved only if the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is ensured.
Ambassador of Norway to the OSCE Robert Kvile said that two days ago the delegation paid a visit to Armenia where Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was the main topic of discussion.
In his speech, Ambassador of France to the OSCE Francois Alabrune said they are informed about the state of refugees and internally displaced persons, and stressed the importance of the meetings of the parties and the search for common ground in the settlement of the conflict.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
