Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Turkey after the election will seriously affect the cooperation between the two countries, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun said at a press conference held on Thursday at Turkey's Embassy in Baku.

He went on to say that the forthcoming visit of the President of Azerbaijan can become a basis for new economic projects.

According to the Ambassador, the economic cooperation between the two countries is aimed at the welfare of the whole region.

"A number of major economic projects between the two countries has been launched, one of which is TANAP. This is one of the most important and strategic projects. Turkey and Azerbaijan seek to maximally use the full potential. These projects will have a positive impact not only on the development of the two countries, but also the entire region," the Ambassador underlined.

Turkey has always supported the fair position of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and takes steps to support Azerbaijan in all international organizations and will continue to provide this support in future, the Ambassador said.

"The Turkish government is sure that Armenia will abandon its destructive position. Peace and stability in the region are very important for Turkey," Ismail Alper Coskun said.

The cooperation that exists between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the sphere of defence, will continue and develop, Turkish Ambassador said.
