During the last few days the Armenian armed forces have suffered heavy losses as a result of the successful actions of Azerbaijani servicemen, that led to the fact that the enemy has serious concerns, one of the senior officers of the Azerbaijani army in Khojavend told Trend

According to him, it is quiet during the day, but almost every night Armenian Armed Forces open fire at positions of Azerbaijani military.

"Fire has become more intense over the last 7-10 days. They fear that our military can go in a surprise attack, so the open fire at our position," - he said.

He noted that Azerbaijani soldiers are vigilant and on high alert.

"Everybody is ready to go into battle. Principled position of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gives impetus to our troops, as well as the opportunity to earn praise from Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.

Senior military official in Beylagan told Trend, that some media are spreading false information about the situation at the contact line in Agdam and Fizuli regions.

"Recent events indicate that the Azerbaijani army is at a very high level," - he said.

He also added that the Azerbaijani army surpass the Armenian armed forces in all spheres.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
