Armenia violates ceasefire with Azerbaijan around 130 times within 48 hours

Armenian armed forces broke the ceasefire with Azerbaijan 60 times in numerous positions on Feb.7, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on Feb.9.

Armenian armed forces, located in the villages of Chinari, Mosesgerh, Aygepar and on the nameless heights of Armenia's Berd district, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the villages of Kokhanebi, Aghdam, Alibeyli, Munjuglu, Hajialili and on the nameless heights of Tovuz district.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani positions located on the nameless heights of Gadabay district underwent fire from the positions located in the Chil village of Armenia's Krasnoselskiy district.

Azerbaijani positions also took fire from the positions located near the villages of Chileburt, Gizil Oba of Terter, Talish, Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy, Shuraabad, Yusifjanli, Kengerli, Sarijali, Shikhlar, Javahirli, Garagashli, Bash Gervend, Novruzlu of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Horadiz, Gorgan, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli district.

Azerbaijani positions also underwent fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

Moreover, Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan 69 times on Feb.8.

Armenian armed forces located in the villages of Shavarshavan of Noyemberyan, Paravakar of Ijevan district of Armenia, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located on the nameless heights and in the villages of Ferehli of Gazakh and Kohnegishlag of Aghstafa district.

At the same time, Azerbaijani positions located in the village of Aghdam and on the nameless heights of Tovuz district underwent fire from the positions located in the villages of Mosesgerh and Aygepar of Armenia's Berd district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions located on the nameless heights of Gadabay district took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Armenia's Krasnoselskiy district.

Azerbaijani positions also underwent fire from the positions located near the villages of Chileburt, Goyarkh, Chayli of Terter, Talish, Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy, Shuraabad, Shikhlar, Javahirli, Garagashli of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.

At the same time, Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
