MEETING OF DELEGATIONS UNDER AD HOC COMMITTEE ON NAGORNO-KARABAKH WAS IMPORTANT EVENT OF PACE WINTER SESSION вЂ" AZERI MP

A meeting organized under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ad Hoc Committee was an important event for Azerbaijan under the autumn session of the PACE, MP Asim Mollazada, the chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party, told Trend .

According to Mollazada, the meting presided by Lord Rassel Johnston, the head of the Ad Hoc Committee resulted in the establishment of a working group. It is charged in drafting proposals on the implementation of relevant items of the January resolution of the PACE on Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict on Nagorno-Karabakh.

Mollazada said that the Azerbaijani parliamentary representatives took an active part in the discussions on Ukraine’s fulfillment of CE commitments. The PACE Ad Hoc Committee on Belorus also considered a report on the situation in this country. Mollazada, a PACE rappporteur on Belorus will submit a report to the session of the Assembly in April. It was also decided to invite to Strasbourg a unified candidate of the Belorus opposition n the eve of the presidential elections to be held in this country next summers.

The chairman of the DRP, said that under the session he met with the PACE President, Rene Van Der Linden and CE Secretary General Terry Davis. Along with other issues the meetings also focused on the pre-elections situation in Azerbaijan.
