“The existence of uncontrolled territory in Azerbaijan offers favorable facilities for the delivery of components of the mass destruction arms, strategic materials, as well as conventional arms to Armenia, which further could be used against Azerbaijan,” Farhad Tagizade, the deputy head of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan, stated to a two-day conference on Non-proliferation of mass destructive arms in the Caspian and Black Seas’, which started in Baku on Wednesday.

Tagizade said that the factor is more actual with the consideration of the fact of the resumption of the Mezamor nuclear power station in the seismic zone of Armenia near lying to Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is country which suffered from 32 terror attacks committed with the direct participation of the Armenian special service organizations and separatist regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, which resulted in death of over 2,000 people,” he underlined.

Tagizade paid special attention to the continuing Armenian aggression in the 20% of Azerbaijani territory, which resulted in loss of control over 132km section of the Azerbaijani-Iranian state border and 1007km section of the border with Armenia. “It makes a negative impact on the entire situation with security in the South Caucasus,” Tagizada stressed.

According tРѕ Tagizade, the importance of the event is conditioned with the difficulties that the newly established countries face and the formation of national security bodies, as well as the improvement of the border management service.

Taking into consideration the fact that the transborder criminal groups has well-set and firm relations, the law-enforcement bodies of the Caspian and Black Sea basin countries should take more decisive and efficient steps promoting the establishment of unified fighting strategy.

Attending the two-day conference were the representatives from the border services and coastal guard services of Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria and the United States.
