Azerbaijan continues issue of refugee status to people from 3rd countries taken refuge in the country, Trend reports quoting Ali Hassanov, the Deputy Primer, as well as the head of the State Committee on Refugees and IDP.

He stressed that several years ago the government was not able to render aid to these refugees. Now these problems are eliminated. Problems in education and health are under consideration, Hassanov stressed. He said that there was only one problem related to the refugees from Chechnya. They arrive in Azerbaijan illegally. Therefore, we could not indentify them fully. We asked aid from the Russian government in the issue, he added.

Hassanov also noted that Azerbaijan had 13,000 or 14,000 refugees from 3rd countries. Those are Chechens, Afghans, Palestinians and Iraqis. 50 people have already received refugee status, he stressed. The Deputy Primer said that they have same privileges as Azerbaijani refugees.
