Pier Stankin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan, stated that Germany will support all steps directed towards the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He made this statement in Baku on 16 January during a news conference, dedicated to Germany's chairmanships at the European Union in 2007.
The diplomat noted that the EU cannot resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and this should be done by the conflicting parties. Furthermore, there is also the United Nations to resolve the problems of the nations, the Ambassador stated.
He stressed that the OSCE Minsk Group should become more active in its resolution of the Armenia вЂ"Azerbaijani conflict.
