New ICG Director for Caucasus to Begin Implementing Responsibilities in Tbilisi

The Chairman of the International Crisis Group (ICG) Baku Office, Vugar Gojayev, informed Trend that the new ICG Director for Caucasus, Magdalena Fricheva, will begin fulfilling her responsibilities in Tbilisi from March 1, 2007. She will replace Sabina Frazer in this post, who has been appointed as a Director of ICG Program for Europe and Deputy President of the organization.

It is supposed that Fricheva will visit all countries of the region, including Azerbaijan, in the near future to get familiar with the situation and hold a number of discussions. The International Crisis Group has more than 110 employees in five continents. The aim of the organization is to strengthen the international community in forecasting, understanding and acting to prevent the conflicts. The organization headquarters is in Brussels and is headed by the former Foreign Minister of Australia, Gareth Evans.
