State Committee for Problems of Families, Women and Children and Human Rights Institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Held a Broad Meeting on 15 th Anniversary of Khojali Genocide

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / On 22 February, the State Committee for Problems of Families, Women and Children of Azerbaijan and Human Rights Institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan held a broad meeting with regard to the 15 th anniversary of Khojali tragedy. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, Azad Rahimov, Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Huseyn Avni Garslioglu, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Justice, Foreign Ministry, Parliament, intellectuals and heads of NGOs.

After demonstration of the film regarding Khojali tragedy, the Chairwoman of the State Committee for Problems of Families, Women and Children of Azerbaijan, Hijran Huseynova, informed on the hard results of the tragedy. She said that on 26 February 1992 the Armenian armed bandits wildly killed 613 Azeri people in one night, 8 families fully perished, 467 people hardly injured, 1275 people were taken prisoners, 150 people became missing people and tens of children got into hard physiological conditions. The Director of Human Rights Institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan , Rovshan Mustafayev, stressed that Khojali genocide is the key part of the ethnic corporation policy of the Armenians and is a heinous crime against human being.

The Deputy of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Havva Mammadova, said that over the recent two centuries, the Armenian terrorists have implemented policy of terror and genocide against the Azerbaijanis and whole Turkish world.

Other participants also spoke about the wild actions of the Armenians in Khojali. The statement of the State Committee and Human Rights Institute regarding Khojali genocide was announced at the end of the conference.
