Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Investigates Information on Sunk Vessels

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's Press Secretary, Khazar Ibrahim, briefed the media on 12 November that the Foreign Ministry is searching for information on the vessels sunk in the Azov and Black Seas.

The storm caused an emergency situation in the Azov and Black Seas. According to information provided by the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergency situations, four vessels sunk in one day. In addition, six vessels got into trouble and two tankers were damaged.

According to Khazar Ibrahim, the information has to be confirmed that the vessel belongs to Azerbaijan, but the search continues. In addition, he said that the captain of the vessel is not a citizen of Azerbaijan, Russian media sources report. Moreover, the Azerbaijani side has investigated the citizenship of the victims whose bodies have already been found, he said.

The bodies of three of the crew members of the sunk vessel Nakchivan were found in Kosa Tuzla. The fate of five members of the crew remains unknown. A source reported to RBK from the Press Service of the Southern Regional Center of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations, spaces are currently being prepared in the hospitals of Tamani of the Krasnodar Territory for the crew members of other vessels who received injuries as a result of a bad storm in the Azov and Black Seas.

It was possible to rescue three members of the Nakchivan dry cargo ship and the search continues.

The dry cargo ships Nakchivan, Volnogorsk, Kovel and the Volga-Neft-139 tanker were damaged in the Cherchen Strait.
