Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / A skirmish took place in the Narimanov District of Baku in the evening of 25 November.
A man was shot in Hasan Aliyev Street in front of the restaurant Tongal. According to witnesses, the man left the restaurant and was shot from a white BMW driving past, which immediately disappeared. The victim was taken to hospital where he later died.
The victim was Ragub Rustamov, 45, a Russian citizen from the Azerbaijani region of Agdam, an investigator of Narimanov District, Rasim Gurbanov, said to Trend on 26 November.
According to the investigator, Rustamov was shot from a revolver.
A search is underway for the perpetrator. The motive of the crime is not yet known.
Narimanov District Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case for premeditated homicide and illegal gain, transfer, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of firearms of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The victim was known in Russia as the infamous criminal 'Chechen Ruslan'. His murder was connected to his criminal activities and attempts on his life had been made several times before, a source at law-enforcement bodies reported to Trend.
This is the third gun crime to take place in Baku in the last month.
A member of the representation office of the unrecognized Republic of Chechnya in Azerbaijan Imran Gaziyev was killed in the district of Binagadi.
One man was killed and three injured at a police station in Sabail District.
