An argument between drivers led to the stabbing earlier on Monday of Azerbaijani pop singer Faig Agayev and his two bodyguards, Azer Musayev and Ramin Bayramov, Nizami District Police Department Investigator Jovdat Isgandarov has told Trend.
Agayev received six stab wounds in the incident.
The police has reportedly identified the three attackers although their names have not be disclosed to protect the confidentiality of the investigation.
The dispute arose as a result of the drivers' reluctance to give way, Isgandarov said.
The unnamed attackers allegedly stabbed Agayev , a state-honored pop singer, and his two bodyguards earlier Monday, Assistant to the Nasimi District Prosecutor Gunay Salimzade told Trend.
A criminal case has been filed under Articles 126.2.1 of the Criminal Code ("Deliberate causing of serious harm to health, that is harm dangerous to human life, concerning two or more persons, and also repeatedly or by group of persons, on preliminary arrangement by group of persons, by organized group or criminal community [organization]"); and 126.2.4 ("Deliberate causing of serious harm to health, that is harm dangerous to human life; hooliganism"), the Prosecutor's Office told Trend.
Agayev is in a stable condition, the trauma surgeon of the City Central Clinic Hospital No.1, Siyamyak Nani, told Trend Life. An operation to tend the singer's wounds lasted about two hours, he said.
"He became conscious after the anesthetic wore off and is already talking," Nani said. "Agayev and his bodyguards arrived at the hospital in their own car at six o'clock in the morning. The singer underwent surgery. He had several wounds, including one penetrating wound in abdominal regions."
