Kazakh police arrest Uzbek citizen accused of drug trafficking

The Kazakh Interior Ministry's Anti-Narcotics Committee arrested a 25-year-old Uzbek citizen carrying eight bags of dried marijuana weighing 565 kilograms in the Zhambyl Oblast this week, the ministry's regional spokesman Rosa Kaldybekova told Trend.

The Kazakh Interior Ministry's Anti-Narcotics Committee arrested a 25-year-old Uzbek citizen carrying eight bags of dried marijuana weighing 565 kilograms in the Zhambyl Oblast this week, the ministry's regional spokesman Rosa Kaldybekova told Trend.

"The suspect admitted his plans to earn $4,000-$5,000 in profit," she said.

Kaldybekova added that the committee officers also found 500 grams of marijuana in a pit in the resident's yard yesterday. Law enforcement agencies have already filed criminal cases.

"Police prevented 382 crimes related to drug trafficking, including 75 drug sales cases, since early 2010," she said. "The total weight of seized narcotics was over 10.5 tons."sd
