Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran has confirmed that there is no Azerbaijani citizen among the identified dead and injured passengers of the airplane that crashed in Iran.

"There is no Azerbaijani citizen among the identified dead and injured passengers of the airplane that crashed in Iran on Sunday," the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran told Trend.

Diplomatic mission had earlier sent a request to Iran's appropriate government agencies in order to clarify whether there were Azerbaijani citizens among those registered in the list of the passengers of the airplane that crashed on Sunday. 

The aircraft Boeing-727 of Iran Air, en route from Tehran to the Urmia city made an emergency landing and crashed due to unknown reasons.

Iranian news agency IRNA on Monday published a list of passengers, who were on the board of the aircraft Boeing-727 that crashed in the West Azerbaijan Province.

According to the agency, 77 people died, while 26 people were injured. Seven of the 12 crew members died, while five were wounded. Bodies of 73 people from the total number of dead have been identified. Two among the dead are Iraqi citizens, while two more Iraqi citizens were injured.

Previously, Mehr agency had reported that four among the dead were the Iraqi citizens.
