Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has created a governmental commission to investigate the events in Zhanaozen, Prime-Minister Karim Massimov said on his twitter page.

"The President established a governmental commission on Zhanaozen headed by First Deputy Prime-Minister Umirzak Shukeyev," Massimov said on his twitter page.

Mass riots occurred in the Kazakh city of Zhanaozen, Mangistau region on December 16-17. According to the preliminary data, about 10 people died and several were injured, Kazakh prosecutor general Askhat Daulbaev said on Friday.

The employees of oil companies have struck in Mangistau region since May. The court found the protest as illegal. The companies dismissed thousands of workers for striking. Several strikers returned to work and new employees were appointed. The companies said that the volume of oil may decrease due to the protest of workers.
