The Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry is investigating the death of one and fate of other injured Azerbaijani sailors of a Turkish tanker which sank near the Albanian port of Durres, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev told Trend on Monday.

The Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry is investigating the death of one and fate of other injured Azerbaijani sailors of a Turkish tanker which sank near the Albanian port of Durres, the country's Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev told Trend on Monday.

The Ministry has instructed the Azerbaijani Embassy in Greece, also accredited to Albania, to clarify details of this accident and the sailors' fate.

The Turkish tanker with Azerbaijani crew on board sank in the Albanian port of Durres as a result of explosion, Turkish Samanyolu Haber news portal reported.

The Azerbaijani captain and two Georgian people were killed. There were three other Azerbaijani, three Turkish, six Georgian, and two Ukrainian citizens on board, Turkish media outlets reported. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
