A train and a passenger bus, following on route number 124, collided in Garadagh district of Baku. As a result of the accident there are dead and injured among the passengers of the bus, head of the press service of JSC Azerbaijan Railways Nadir Azmammadov said.
Total of 41 people were injured, 32 people of whom were delivered to Clinical Medical Center (8 people in serious condition), 9 people to Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (8 man after a first aid were sent home. One person is being treated), head of the press service of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan Anar Gedirli told Trend. He noted that 5-6 people died as a result of the accident.
As a result of the accident 7 people died, head of the Republican Traffic Police Kamran Aliyev told Trend.
The bus driver was seriously injured, but survived and is in hospital, the prosecutor office of Garadagh district of Baku told Trend. All the dead are male.
The traffic accident occurred at 07:25 on the stretch of Putah - Heybat. The train following on route Agstafa - Baku collided with DAEWOO bus (license number 10-TF-427) at secured crossing.
Law enforcement agencies, working at the scene, determined that the crossing meets the standards of the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the tragedy was the violation of traffic rules by the bus driver.
