Azerbaijan, Baku, May 11 /Trend, T.Jafarov/

An earthquake measuring 6.2 points occurred in Bashagard county, Hormozgan province of Iran, causing 17 injuries and damaging 70 villages, IRINN news channel reported on Saturday.

The earthquake killed a two-year-old child, the ISNA agency said.

Eight earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.5-4.9 points occurred in the same region thereafter.

The earthquake didn't cause severe damages; one of the injured is in a bad condition, head of Hormozgan province Ibrahim Azizi said.

According to him, rescue operations are being held now. The works on repairing the damages will begin in the near future.

Two earthquakes measuring 3.1 and 4.2 points occurred on Friday night in Bojnurd, the administrative center of North Khorasan province.
