Eight sergeants of the Turkish Armed Forces were dismissed from country's military service because of sexual abuse committed against a minor girl, Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policy Fatma Shahin said, Anadolu agency reported on Tuesday.

According to Shahin, the cases of these sergeants have already been transferred to the court, the case is under investigation.

The fact of sexual abuse of a minor by eight sergeants was revealed a few months ago. A 16-year old resident of the Turkish province of Bingol went to the police with a statement about sexual abuse against her by Turkish servicemen. As a result of an initiated investigation eight sergeants of the Armed Forces of Turkey were detained.
