An attempt to smuggle a large amount of gunpowder to Azerbaijan was thwarted, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan (SCC) told Trend on Nov. 22.
According to the SCC, the operation was conducted by officers of the Khachmaz Customs Office's Department for Combating Customs Offences.
The SCC said that, during a customs inspection, some 140 kilograms of gunpowder was found in the wheels of the Ikarus-256 passenger bus, operated by by Eyvazov Gasham Durbala oglu. The bus entered the control zone of the Khachmaz Customs Office's Samur Customs Post from Russia.
The investigation department of the State Customs Committee is investigating this fact, the SCC said.
