The Bilasuvar Customs Administration representatives detained Kamil Talibov trying to sell a large consignment of drugs smuggled from Iran, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said on April 17.

Talibov was detained while hiding 2,690 kilograms of hashish and 2,645 kilograms of opium.

The investigation department under the committee filed a criminal case under articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code.

Talibov was arrested as a suspect. As a preventive measure, Baku's Yasamal District Court decided he will be detained for three months.

The necessary operational and investigative actions are underway to identify and bring to justice other persons who may be involved in illicit trafficking of large consignment of drugs.
