Outcomes of an Incident at Samur-Absheron Channel to Be Eliminated Soon

The Amelioration and Water Economy Company informed Trend that reports in a blast in the subsidiary section of the Samur-Absheron cannel, which supplies water to Baku, are wrong.

The cannel is new and metallic slabs shook while commissioning the water. At the moment the correction work is being done and there is no dangerous water spills.

The Company promised to eliminate the result of the incident by the end of the day.

A blast occurred on December 15, 2006 in the subsidiary section of the Samur-Absheron channel, in Khanarkh, North Azerbaijan, which supplied water to Baku. The blast destroyed the cannel in the area of 10-12 sq m. It caused water spills. Almost 50 ha area of Agalyg Village of Devechi District is over-flooded.

Presently the water spills has been stopped and the flood was redirected to Valvalichay River.
