Court Rejects Azerbaijani MP’s Lawsuit against Prosecutor General

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / Baku City Yasamal District Court did not allow the lawsuit of Azerbaijani MP Panah Huseyn against the Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, the MP said to Trend.

Panah Huseyn initiated a lawsuit against the Prosecutor General in accordance with Article 147 (calumny), 148 (abuse of honour and dignity) of the Criminal Code. The Prosecutor General had said to journalists MPs Panah Huseyn and Jamil Hasanli had ties with Azerbaijan's ex-minister for economic development, jailed Farhad Aliyev. Huseyn demanded the Prosecutor to disprove what he had said.

The court presided by judge Sudaba Mammadova did not allow the lawsuit. According to Huseyn, the judge did not substantiate the refusal.
