Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / Azerbaijani public organizations operating in Georgia will participate in a political rally to take place in Tbilisi on 18 September, the Chairman of 'Georgia My Motherland' society, Ali Babayev, reported to Trend on 17 September.
A range of Georgia's political parties and public organizations plan to hold rallies with different themes with the intention of keeping the government informed of their problems. Several Azerbaijani public organizations in Georgia were invited to participate in the action.
Babayev said he would raise the problems of education, unemployment and language. "We are not concerned who holds the rally, the authorities or the opposition. We attend all meetings where constitutional claims are voiced," he said.
According to official reports from Georgian sources, 284,000 Azerbaijanis reside in the country. According to unofficial reports, the number of Georgia's Azerbaijani population makes up 500,000. The Azerbaijanis residing in the 13 administrative regions in Georgia are native to Georgia.
