President of  Azerbaijan to Make a Working Visit to   Bucharest

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will make a working visit to Bucharest, said the Head of the Foreign Relations Department of Azerbaijan President's Executive Apparat, Novruz Mammadov, on 22 September commenting on Aliyev's visit to Romania scheduled for 24-25 September.

According to Mammadov, during his visit to Azerbaijan for participating in GUAM summit, the President of Romania, Trayan Basesku, invited Aliyev to visit Romania.

During his upcoming visit, the Head of Azerbaijan will hold working talks with his Romanian colleague, participate in the opening ceremony of a park named after then former President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, in Romania.

Azerbaijani President is expected to visit the branch of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bucharest established by the decision of Romanian Government, which is a very important event, Mammadov said.

" Azerbaijan has good partners in East Europe, with Poland, Romania, and Baltic countries among them," he said.

According to him, the relationships between Azerbaijan and Romania are at a good level. The Presidents frequently meet and hold talks on different subjects.

The agenda of the talks to be held during the visit will be the cooperation between the two countries within the framework of Nabucco project.

The NABUCCO gas pipeline, with a length of 4,000km, will ensure gas delivery via the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas to Europe through the territories of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tbilisi, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Austria. The gas pipeline's operation will commence in 2011. The project is estimated at €5bln. NABUCCO is being developed by several companies: OMV, MOL ( Hungary), Botas ( Turkey), Bulgargaz ( Bulgaria), and Transgaz ( Romania).
