Azerbaijani Parliament to Adopt New Bill on ‘Education’

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / "The bill on 'Education' has been developed and will be adopted at the autumn session of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament). The bill will be discussed by the parliamentary commission on science and education issues and then considered by MPs," Oktay Asadov, the Speaker of Parliament, said during the open autumn session of Parliament on 1 October.

The bill on 'Education' was considered and agreed by all Ministries and Departments.

The bill will open wide the possibilities for world standards in the education system of Azerbaijan, Asadov said.

The bill on Education was adopted in Azerbaijan in 1992. The new bill was developed in 1995 and although submitted to Parliament for discussion, MPs did not adopt it. In 2005 the bill was re-developed.

Some 18 meetings were held and 141 bills were adopted during the spring session of Parliament. There are plans to adopt new bills on economy, culture and legal spheres during the autumn session.
