Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / Formation of election commissions on parity bases has neither legal nor logical grounds. The current composition of election commissions was satisfying, MP Ali Huseynov, the chairman of the Permanent Parliamentary commission on Law Policy and State Building and member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, said.
" Azerbaijan's position over the issue is clear," the MP said.
In compliance with the Azerbaijan Election Code the composition of election commissions are formed from members of parties owing Parliamentary majority and minority, as well as independent MPs. Opposition demand to form composition of election commissions on parity bases with participation of opposition and the Authorities.
The Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and Bureau of Democratic Institutes and Human Rights of OSCE demand to make changes in composition of Azerbaijani election commissions. The next stage of the negotiations among the Azerbaijani Government, Venice Commission and Bureau of Democratic Institutes and Human Rights of OSCE will be held in Baku on 9 November.
