Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend K.Ramazanova / The US embassy in Azerbaijan has announced a grant program under the US Congress program on Embassy Culture Preservation of Fund. This announcement was made by Anne Derse, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Abulfas Garayev, the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister, in Baku on 10 October.
A 17th-18h century mosque in the village of Gala in Baku will be reconstructed with the financial support of the US embassy in Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry. The project is nearing to completion. Azerbaijan will allocate funds in an equal amount to the financing by the US embassy.
Next year the Azerbaijani Ministry will set up the restoration of the Culture House in Gala.
A total of $38mln has been allocated for the implementation of the project. Under the program, the United States have carried out 378 projects worldwide in the amount of $10mln. The first project was implemented in the village of Gum in Gakh District, Azerbaijan, for the restoration of a monument belonging to Ancient Albania.
