Azerbaijani Oppositions Might Reach Common Position on Elections Code by November

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Ilhamgizi / By November the opposition parties of Azerbaijan will come out from the common position on the Elections Code, Eldar Namazov, head of the Forum for Azerbaijan, said in talks with Trend.

The Azerbaijan Government and the Council of Europe Venice Commission holds discussions over the improvement of the Elections Code of Azerbaijan. The political parties of Azerbaijan have developed different proposals on changes and supplements to the Code. On 9 November Baku will host discussions on the issue with the organization of the Azerbaijani authorities and the CE Venice Commission.

Namazov said that the Consultative Council which unites 6 opposition organizations - the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, the Azerbaijan National Independent Party, the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Musavat, Tereggi, the Public Forum for Azerbaijan, adopted draft documents on improvement of the Constitution and the Elections Code. The Consultative Council intends to discuss its project with other parties.

Namazov said that the opposition should come out with a unified proposal by a meeting due on 9 November.
