Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend D.Khatinoglu / The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejat said to a summit on the Caspian Sea status in Tehran on 16 October that earlier discussions and meetings on this issue were successful.
Ahmadinejat said that from an economic aspect the Caspian Sea is a rich source and has unique importance from the aspect of transit.
"The Caspian Sea plays an important part in prosperity, peace and security and vessels passing via it should be vessels belonging to Caspian littoral countries. Moreover, to protect the flora and fauna of the sea, practical measures should be taken," the Iranian President said.
Ahmadinejat said that the Caspian legal status should be defined in a concrete and expedient form.
