Discussions on a Single Opposition Should be Taken from Agenda: Activist of Azerbaijani Party

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Azerbaijan's opposition Musavat Party considers that the issue of a single candidate from the opposition should be taken from the agenda, said the Head of the party's Central Executive Apparat, Arif Hajili, on 16 October in Baku.

"The discussions on this issue create favorable grounds for speculations. This topic has become a base for demagogy, centrifugal efforts in opposition, which jeopardize the trust of people. Therefore, issue of a single candidate from the opposition should be deleted from the agenda," Hajili said.

Participating in the Presidential elections with a single candidate has been discussed in the opposition for nearly ten years without any results. Those who wish to nominate the chairmen of the 'right' parties do not want to compromise. According to the political observers, participating in the Presidential elections with a single candidate will not yield any results.

The activist of Musavat Party considers that the discussions around this issue divert the attention of the opposition parties from key problems. According to him, instead of it, the party suggests idea of 'single electorate'. "The idea envisages combine dissatisfied electorate around the candidate of Musavat Party and make the community believe that our candidate has more chances. It is possible to gain victory in this way," he said.
