Baku Central Police Department not to be Abolished: Deputy Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I. Alizadeh / The Central Police Department of Baku will not be abolished, Vilayat Eyvazov, the Deputy Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, told journalists on 19 October.

Eyvazov said that reforms being held within departmental organizations were being canceled and new structures were being established on their basis. "The Central Police Department of Baku struggles against crimes and provides protection to the population," Eyvazov said.

Azerbaijan's press disseminated the information about the department to be abolished.

The department would be moved to a new building. An area was allocated for construction of the new building for the department by order of the Azerbaijani President. The new building will be constructed on the Bashir Safaroglu Ave near the State Committee on State Property Management. The new building will meet international standards, Eyvazov said.
