NATO not Responding Positively to Azerbaijan’s Appeal for Provision of Security of Pipelines: Deputy Premier
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr I.Alizade / Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey hold regularly consultations regarding provision of security for pipelines, Abid Sharifov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Premier, said in talks with journalists, on 30 November.
He said that an appeal was made to NATO with respect to purchase of advanced equipment for ensuring security of pipelines, whereas the organization did not response positively. "NATO said that the alliance is involved only in ensuring security of communications, passing through the territory of its member-countries. NATO does not have experience in protection of oil pipelines and communications running via the countries which do not enter the organization," he said.
