Diplomatic Academy’s Master of Science Programme to Commence in September 2009 – Rector(video)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / The Master of Science program at the Diplomatic Academy will commence in September 2009, Haviz Pashayev, the rector of the Academy and deputy Foreign Minister, said to journalists on 31 October.

The program will cover business, ecology, diplomacy, international journalism, energy, security and other topics. According to the rector, well-known scientists and specialists will be involved in the study programme. All interested persons, including Azerbaijanis and foreigners may attend the program.

Studying at the Academy is chargeable. State structures will pay for courses passed by their officials.

There are plans to establish an academic campus. The area for the campus will be located out of the city. According to Pashayev the Academy's campus should be the 'brain centre' which unites political scientists, journalists and different specialists.

One of the goals of the education program is to deliver regional studies, Pashayev said.

The Diplomatic Academy was established by order of the Azerbaijani President in 2006. The goal of the Academy is to teach qualified staff at the Foreign Ministry and other State bodies engaged in international relations.

Pashayev was appointed deputy Foreign Minister and Rector of the Diplomatic Academy at the Foreign Ministry.
