Turkish President:   Ankara Demands Support from International Community for Struggling Kurdish Terrorists

Turkey, Ankara / Тrend corr A. Ismayilova / Turkey demands support and understanding from Azerbaijan and other countries for struggling against the terrorits of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PPK), Turkish President Abdullah Gul said in Ankara to Azerbaijani journalists on 1 November.

According to President Gul, Turkey can fight terror on its own. He called on Iraq to struggle against terror organizations based in its territory. Gul also mentioned the responsibility of the United States as a country which invaded Iraq to annihilate terror organizations.

Since 1984 PРK has been struggling for establishment of an independent Kurdish state in the south-east of Turkey. As a result, over 37,000 people died. The situation aggravated when Kurdish terrorists several times attacked Turkey from northern Iraq. In response, Turkey deployed its troops at the border with Iraq and publicized its intensions to invade the country to struggle aqgainst terrorism.
