Nobody Can Violate Rights of Parties – Azerbaijani Parliamentarian

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The positions of the Popular Front Party, Liberal Party, Musavat and Democratic Party on formation of election commissions is absurd and contradicts laws. All parliamentary parties must attend at formation of election commissions, MP Igbal Agazadeh, the chairman of the Umid opposition party, said to Trend on 1 November.

"Four parties cannot speak on behalf of all opposition. Nobody can violate the rights of others," Agazadeh said.

Musavat, Democratic Party and members of the Azadlig bloc made decision to unite and to perform from common position concerning reforms in election commission.

According to Agazadeh, Democratic Party, Musavat, Liberal and Popular Front parties pursue their own political interests.

The planned negotiations between the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe with the Azerbaijani government were not implemented. The Venice commission proposed to form election commission on parity basis with participation of the Authorities and opposition. However, the Azerbaijani government did not agree.
