Government of Azerbaijan Intends to Liquidate Visa Regime with Turkey: Deputy Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Government of Azerbaijan will consider the issue of liquidating the visa regime with Turkey. An official decision will be made by the end of 2007, said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Vagif Sadigov.

"A working group will be working on this issue. It is possible to say that the issue of liquidating the visa regime with Turkey will be resolved positively," he said.

Turkey annulled visa regime with Azerbaijan and other Turkic countries from 1 August 2007.

According to the Deputy Minister, in order to resolve this issue, positive responses should be made by the Ministry of National Security, Interior Ministry, State Border Service, State Customs Committee, AZAL State Concern. "We are in charge of clarifying opinions of these State bodies," he said.

Liquidating the visa regime requires reciprocation steps and therefore, it will be active not for all Turkic-speaking countries, but for citizens of Turkey, Sadigov said.
