Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan / Тrend corr E. Mamamdov / The statements made at the exhibition at Harvard University regarding the monuments in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic belonging to Armenia do not reflect the position of official Washington, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said to journalists at the Nakhchivan State University on 7 November.

On 1 November, an exhibition on 'Armenian Monuments in Nakhchivan' took place in Harvard University in the United States. In response, a spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Khazar Ibrahim, told journalists that such events negatively affect negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Nakhchivan National Academy of Sciences released an official statement that there is no Armenian historical or cultural monument among those registered in NAR.

According to the Ambassador, Harvard University is a private organization, and the State has no right to interfere with its activities. The US Administration is diplomatically fighting against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Armenian terrorism.

During her visit to NAR, the US Ambassador visited the Momina Khatun Mausoleum and the Carpet Museum, and also attended the opening ceremony of the first clinic of Nakhchivan State University. Derse met with the Prime Minister of NAR, Aliovsat Bahshishev. On the evening of 7 November, the Ambassador will hold a press conference on results of her visit.
