Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / The Venice Commission invited all parties to the round table, a representative of the organization Sergey Kuznetsov said to news agencies.
"We invited all parties. Whether they will agree or not depends on them. We have done what we promised to do," Kuznetsov said.
The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan (LPA), the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) and the Musavat party refused from participation in the meeting to discuss reforming of the election legislation. They protested against the expanded format of the event and its being organized by the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES). The four parties believe IFES lost the trust of democratic forces due to its attitude to the elections which took place in Azerbaijan.
The four parties wanted to represent the entire opposition in the discussions, pledging that they had passed the 15% barrier at last parliamentary elections.
