Azerbaijani Supervision Mission Invited to Observe Elections at State Duma – Russian Central Election Committee Chairman

R.Agayev / A mission of supervisors from Azerbaijan are invited to observe the election process at the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation scheduled for 2 December 2007, Vladimir Churov, the chairman of the Central Election Committee of Russia, said during a press-conference held in Moscow.

Churov said that there was no final list including the number and format of invited supervisors from Azerbaijan. According to Churov, the Central Election Committee invited mainly people they cooperate on a bilateral ground. "We invited five additional representatives of the Azerbaijani Central Election Committee," Churov added.

The CEC of Russia has not given information about the number of international supervisors who will come to Russia. However, about 330 invitations have been sent to international supervisors.

Some 70 people are expected to come from OSCE Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Bureau, 70 - from CIS Executive Committee, 30 - from Council of Europe, 30 - from International Parliamentary Assembly and 30 - from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Parliamentarians will be invited from Great Britain, the United States, Japan, Italy, France, Germany and many others.
