Gunman in Police Station Shooting Believed To Be Related to District Officer (UPDATED)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli, I. Ali-zade / The gunman who attacked police officers in Baku on 21 November has now been identified.

"The suspect is Khanlar Mammadov, a relative of one of the district police officers," said the deputy prosecutor of the Sabail district of Baku Elchin Sultanov on 21 November.

A murder took place in the Sabail district of Baku on 21 November. An armed man entered Police Office 8, shot Imdad Nazarov, a police officer, and killed Muslum Jabrayilov, a real estate broker. Afterwards, he headed for the house of another district police officer, Zakir Sadigov, where he then shot that officer and his wife.

According to Sultanov, Sadigov said that the gunman was his relative.

The injured Sadigov and his wife were both operated on and their condition is reported as satisfactory now, the deputy prosecutor said.

A criminal case has been filed on this matter, and the motive for the crime is being investigated.
