Ex Pakistan Prime Minister Will Not Boycott Forthcoming Parliamentary Elections

The Pakistan Peoples Party headed by the former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto will not boycott the forthcoming parliamentary elections, AFP agency reported.

Previously Bhutto called on her supporters not to take part in the elections. Bhutto has now changed her statement after the Pakistani President Parvaz Musharraf promised to abolish the emergency situation in the country on 16 December. "We must take participate in the forthcoming elections in order to lead the process. Pakistan Peoples Party will participate in the elections against his will. However, the Party may boycott the elections at any time," Bhutto said in the interview with the agency.

Meanwhile, another opposition leader ex Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif intends to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections in Pakistan which is scheduled for 8 January 2008.
