New Chairman of Azerbaijani Opposition Party Elected

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The chairman of the Azerbaijani opposition Civil Solidarity Party (CSP) MP Sabir Rustamkhanli was re-elected to the chairman post for forty years term. The decision was taken during the 6th meeting of the party in Baku on 24 December.

Participants of the meeting unanimously voted to Rustamkhanli due to lack of another alternative candidature.

Several election conferences were held in Azerbaijani 67 regions and cities. Attending the meeting by 462 delegates.

Manafli was re-elected chairman of the Supreme Assembly.

CSP was founded under the chairmanship of one of the leaders of the National Liberation Movement, Sabir Rustamkhanli, in 1992. The party took part in the parliamentary elections in 1995, 2000, 2005, presidential elections- 2003 and municipal elections 1999 and 2004. The party received state registration on 3 November 1992. The party has over than 35,000 members.
