Inter-parliamentary Assembly May Be Established with Azerbaijan in Ukrainian Parliament

Ukraine, Kiev / Т corr. Z.Novosvitski / There are initiatives in the Ukrainian Parliament to establish an Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Supreme Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) and Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament). "There were plans to establish such an Inter-parliamentary Assembly within the previous Supreme Rada. However, the plans were not implemented, due to the dismissal of the Parliament," MP Eduard Zeynalov stated during an interview to the Trend agency.

The groups of inter-parliamentary ties as well as the Inter-parliamentary Assemblies, have been established for the cooperation among the parliaments. Today the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Ukrainian Supreme Rada has been established, as well as the Seim of Lithuanian Republic and the Senate of the Poland Republic have also been established.

The Inter-parliamentary assemblies are created with Parliaments, in order to build strategic partnership for closer relations. There is a need for the permission of the Parliamentary Committee on the Foreign Affairs and the chairman of the Supreme Rada in order to establish the inter-parliamentary assembly.

Zeynalov was the leader of the group on the Inter-parliamentary relations of Ukraine with the Azerbaijani Government within the Supreme Rada of the fifth session, which was dismissed by the Ukrainian President before the appointed time.
