Road Crashes Occur in   Azerbaijan due to Bad Weather Conditions

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Traffic Police Department of Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry changed to an intensified working regime due to bad weather conditions.

Some 18 crashes have occurred in Azerbaijan over the last two days due to the bad weather conditions and as a result, nine people have died and fifteen people were injured. On 5 January, there were 11 crashes in the country (five people died and ten were injured), 6 January - seven (four people died and five were injured). Three people died and 13 people were injured as a result of 13 crashes in Baku over the last two days.

The Department stated that there are difficulties on the highways as well. The highways of Shemaha-Ismayilli-Sheki, Lankaran-Lerik, Masalli-Yardimli and Alat-Astara are covered by ice.

Transport movement is being re-established by heavy equipment. The Traffic Police Department had warned drivers of the icy roads. The department calls on drivers to be attentive and follow security regulations.

The Road Patrol Service in Baku is also working an intensified regime.
